Happy! Essays on the Work of Jorge Pineda

This retrospective exhibition is dedicated to Jorge Pineda, one of the most significant figures in the history of contemporary art in the Dominican Republic. Curated by Javier Martín-Jiménez together with the curatorial team of Centro León (Sara Hermann Morera, Laura Bisonó Smith, and Víctor Martínez Álvarez), HAPPY: Essays on the Work of Jorge Pineda brings together some of the artist’s most representative works, loaned by institutions such as Museo Reina Sofía, MUSAC, IVAM, DA2, as well as private collections including those of Pilar Lladó, Oliva Arauna, Raquel Ponce, and the Eduardo León Jimenes Collection of Visual Arts.
For this exhibition, we were responsible for production and coordination, working alongside key professionals and providers: exhibition design by Andrés Mengs, art transportation by TTi and TEMA, installation and lighting by Intervento, graphic design by Orlando Isaac, conservation and restoration by Leven Art, and communications by Rubén Fernández-Costa O’Dogherty and Acerca Comunicación.
Our work encompassed a wide range of tasks, including the drafting of collaboration agreements, development of timeline and budget, definition of the artwork checklist, management of loans, international transport and customs, issuance of wall-to-wall insurance, supervision of installation and deinstallation, coordination with suppliers, production of artwork reproductions in collaboration with Fine Arts students from UCM, and editorial coordination of the exhibition catalogue. We also oversaw the organization of the parallel public program.
