About Us
Una Más Una are Irene Aláez and Belén Gil. We met in 2007 when we both worked at the Directorate General for Cultural and Scientific Relations at AECID (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation). From then on, we became an inseparable duo that became official in 2011 with the creation of our small company. Our goal was simply to do what we know and love, together!
Belén Gil Jiménez
I had it clear from the start, so Art History, Arts Evaluation and Management, and History of Contemporary Art and Visual Culture. Later, I applied for internships, scholarships, and any position that would give me some experience, and that’s how I ended up at the General Directorate of Cultural and Scientific Relations at the AECID as an arts manager. I learned a lot, but above all, I met Irene, who in 2011 encouraged me to embark on the adventure of Una Más Una, our arts management company. I have since developed my professional work in the design, coordination, and production of projects. At the same time, since 2014, I have been a member of the panel of experts for the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission, responsible for evaluating projects for the Creative Europe Programme.
Irene Aláez Vasconcellos
I graduated in Law, but I immediately began to shift towards the Management of Artistic and Cultural Foundations and Institutions and Cultural Rights. I worked at La Pedrera, at the State Society for Cultural Action Abroad (SEACEX), and since 2005 at the General Directorate of Cultural and Scientific Relations, coordinating the Visual Arts Unit. There, I interviewed Belén for her scholarship, and since then, we’ve been a team! So, since 2011, I’ve combined my professional work at Una Más Una with cultural research. I write critical articles and reflective texts on cultural policy, and I teach courses, master’s degrees, and postgraduate programs in the cultural sector.
